All the housings I replaced had two bolt impressions in the seal and cracks on both sides. I have also found seals distorted from the bolts, but the rear housings were fine. Leaked oil....

I built a version of Russell's tool back about 1982 when the balancers were starting to fall apart. It was borrowed many times by a club member who performed roadside repairs. We never broke a housing or damaged a seal. Saved hours of work each time. Smitty used a version made with heavy flat stock in the Tidewater area.
