<VV> Saginaw transaxle unique to Corvairs '66 through '69? (was "bogus Corsa on eBay")

The reason I asked about the bogus "Corsa" being billed as a '66, was that
the "Saginaw" transmission is the big selling point in my opinion.
So, the term "Saginaw" lives on in perpetuity to designate the transmission
unique to Corvairs '66 through '69, notwithstanding all of the other cars
that used the innards, or where they were actually built?
It was a great tutorial though, so thanks for all the responses!

Charlie,
Convention. A long time ago (when Matt was young), folks distinguished the
later six bolt trans as a Saginaw and the earlier transmissions as Borg
Warner.. I believe part of the reason was that the early transmissions
appeared to be similar to BW and I think, but not sure, that BW designed
them. All were made in Saginaw. In the last few years (when Matt got more
mature), it was found that all were made in Saginaw..

Have I been deluding myself?
I have always heard the '66 to '69 transmission called a "Saginaw" to
distinguish it from the smaller, less robust '65 transmission.
I bought one and all the bolts for the U-joints were much larger than the
1/4" bolts on the '65 non-Saginaw one I took out.
I understand it's strong enough to handle V-8 conversions?
Maybe all made in Saginaw, so why the special designation as "Saginaw" for
'66 and later?

Being misrepresented is a problem and a red flag to start off, but the '66 4
speed being a Saginaw is the biggest distinction?
