<VV> LEDs - Bright Lights

I know I've seen some discussion on this before but can't seem to locate
anything.

I am restoring a 1965 Corvair Monza convertible and am installing a CORSA
dash.  I would like to use LED bulbs if possible but don't know what might
be involved or where to purchase them.  Also, is there any way to change
the color of the projected light.  I have not connected the dash yet but
would guess the background light would be white.  Any way to change it to
... say blue or green?
