<VV> Power top switch looks "homemade" ? (was "elec. short")

Yes, not a relay, more of a temp/current sensitive "breaker" as you said like my '69 had, which was brand new and had the same system as my former '65 Corsa, both with power tops.
Do you agree that it looks more "homemade" than you would have expected?
My new '69 had 30,000 miles before it was a year old!

My '69 convert. #2891 w/power top does not have a relay. It has a circuit breaker that shuts the power flow off when hot enough. This CB also takes the place of the HRPT. This is an all original car with 30,000 miles.

>Fairly sure I recall a limit switch setup on the top with a relay in the engine compartment right near the battery. The fact that the drain goes away with the top up would lead me to look at that system.
