So Matt- apart from convertible tops and windshields, are you saying that
with
a Powerglide it would be OK to tow an EM forwards on a dolly, as the
rears
turning would keep the trans pumped and not burn anything out?  At a
decent
road speed?

 Yes I would!!  As long as there's nothing wrong with the tranny, the odds of any troubles are small.
