FWIW, the Lambrecht car still has the original factory nitrile rubber O-rings - and they aren't leaking (yet).

It was in the 70's. Circle City member Tom Silvey used to bring Viton O-rings home from his work at Allison's. They used them in aircraft engine applications. Tom thought they would work well in his Covairs. They did, but they were black in color. So he would bag them up for sale at club meetings after he painted a white dot on each O-ring. This way we wouldn't mix them up with the stock style O-rings. He contacted the company that made them and asked if they came in some other color. They said they were a redish brown un-dyed. So he bought them that way from then on. The rest is history.Paul Fox
