<VV> <CORSA Chapters> CORSA rules

Simple question, not so simple answer:
1) Concours rules are set by the Concours committee. Per CORSA Bylaws, only the Concours committee can change Concours rules - not the CORSA BOD, not the CORSA membership.
2) Membership on the Concours committee is by appointment only - appointment is at the pleasure of the CORSA BOD. You cannot run for membership on the Concours committee
3) CORSA BOD could petition to change the CORSA bylaws to allow for different means of making or changing Concours rules, but never has attempted to do so.
4) CORSA BOD could implement a Policy (by simple majority of the Board) to establish an award or some other means of recognition for Originality or Preservation, outside of the Concours, but never has done so.
Final note - We formed the Stock Corvair Group in 2001 in an effort to provide some means within CORSA to study and recognize Stock vehicles. It was an uphill battle to get the group formed and to get time in the convention schedule. It remains a continuing challenge to keep things going because there are so few people willing to devote any time or energy to the effort.
This year the SCG was on the convention schedule but we were not notified that the location for our event had been moved and it caused much confusion and resulted in many cars not finding us.
I wish I had known this car was coming to this convention. I would have tried to arrange a better reception.

OK, 2 things;
- First of all I must agree with everyone on this;
- However, that said, I've have been hearing complaints about 'Stock' category on ridiculous items for years ("slightly too much metallic in a proper paint color"; "slightly wrong black color on the powder coated brake backing plates" (Bill)). At the time I had heard comments like: "If you don't like the rules, change them". Although, not a very nice response, why can't/haven't the rules been changed?!? Is it that hard to do? Are the wrong people on the 'rules' committee? Can we vote in people who can change this? I don't know the inner workings of CORSA's committees, so forgive me if this is a stupid question.
Regards,
Dave
ps: currently not a CORSA member as they mistakenly dropped me several years ago & Harry never responded to my emails...

The '63 White Monza Lambrecht car was classified into the Modified class for Concours - technically correct due to the incorrect size of his whitewall radial tires, but grossly incorrect for what is probably the last most perfect factory original car we will ever see again. Mark Corbin and I made a personal appeal to the Concours chair to - just this one time - override the rule book and give this car the recognition it deserves, but he stood on the letter of the law and refused to reconsider.

>> Well, he does have the original Firestone 6.50-13 tire in the spare location, complete with the two felt pads protecting the metal underneath, the molding plugs unmolested. All the rubber moldings, bumpers, etc are in pristine, soft condition, the metal trim shiny bright, even has the drips and droops of glue and goop where the factory left them.

>> You will never see a car in more original and new condition as this one. To call it modified because he didn't drive it here on 52 year old bias belt tires is insane.
