<VV> Radio speaker

I have a 65 monza that finally needs a radio. It came from the factory without one. I have a radio and a 6x9 4ohm speaker, but how does it attach under the dash? There is only a small horizontal metal plate that protudes from the front of the dash underneath.Creative welding? I'm afraid of those sparks falling all over me when I crawl under the dash.
