Subject: <VV> exhaust tubes
Have any of you developed a fool proof method or tool for removing exhaust
tubes without destroying them....?

Smitty Says; Mike I have never had any problem pulling them out. I tap a
socket (I think it is 3/4 ) into the end of the tube and wrap a strip of
aluminum around the 1/2 inch end of the tube to pad the teeth. Then I grab
that with a pipe wrench and twist and pull. They always come out. If you
have one that is loose then you got to get a little more technical, and
swage or expand the tube part that goes into the head. I made a mandrel (I
guess that's what you'd call it) out of an old U joint cup. Ground it into
a bit of a barrel shape and drive that into the tube. Takes some test and
fit grinding to get it just enough. Drive the mandrel in with the top end
of the tube against a block of wood.
