Smitty Says; Going for more neg camber can almost always be accomplished by
adding equal shims to the upper control arm cross bar on Earlies or Lates.
The cam bolt on the lower control arm of the Lates was supposed to simplify
that. Fact is that some time one runs out of adjustment due to the axle
being constructed of sheet metal. Yes it will bend. Sometime during the
cars life a good solid slam to the ground, (Think car chase in the movie
Bullet), the spring towers can bend in at the top, and all the adjustment in
the world won't be enough to get to zero degrees, much less positive camber.
Those who actually do check and check alignments on their cars would not be
surprised to find one front wheel 3/4 of an inch ahead of the other. If you
find yourself in that situation go find a frame shop, (Not your laser
alignment jackleg toe-in shop). Have them pull the spring towers back to
specs. It's not too expensive, and you will be glad you did when doing
alignments in the future. (Unless the frame shop hands you a sack full of
rust you used to think of as a front axle)
