I must say I’ve not read all replies on this thread. Amazed there were so many opinions.
I don’t use anti-seize on lugs. However, I do use ZEP lubricant with Teflon on wheel studs.
I would NEVER put a lug nut on a dry or rusty stud. Chase threads with a tap, plenty of Deep Creep Penetrant to start (PB Blaster makes too much of a mess, and Deep Creep will go UNDER PB Blaster---seen it done)
Once the threads are cleaned a light spritz of Zep, and you should be good to go. Even up north or in southern Mountain Country.
If I’m taking my Vair to the tire store for a rotation, They know I’m not there to be trifled with. I get a tech whose over 40, with a REAL torque Wrench, and I give him the ZEP. Usually they let me sit in the bay while they work, as they’re not interested in messing up my ride—and they want me to KNOW they did it right.
