<VV> Current mechanical fuel pumps

When I did a full rotisserie restoration on my 65 Corsa Turbo a number of
years ago, one of the items I didn't replace was the original fuel pump.
Primarily due to the bad press on the after market items. Well, after 20K
of happy Corvair driving, the old pump finally quit last year. So I
purchased  from one of our vendors a new after market pump. This pump
lasted less that 1000 miles. Contacting the vendor, they sent me a new
pump. My question is; is this a fluke? Or should be looking at a electric
pump replacement? I'm just getting too old for this kind of drama.
