<VV> Tire in the engine bay

Rotate tires occasionally using the 5-wheel rotation pattern. Eventually,
every tire will have done some engine-compartment time. Though it's hot in
the engine compartment, the spare is getting a break from the Sun's rays and
road wear. Meanwhile, tires on the road get hot too, and they're all
constantly exposed to oxygen in the air, even if you put Nitrogen inside.
Tires deteriorate even when they're stored under ideal conditions. So just
rotate them so they all wear out at the same time. Then buy new ones so tire
makers will realize there's still a market in Corvair tires.

I've learned a whole bunch on vv. thanks. Now my question. I've had unvoiced
concerns. About the spare in the heat of the engine bay. I mean doesn't that
severe heat degrade the rubber over time? I drive a 63 Monza and the spare
as you know is right there next to the turbo. Would I be enough better off
to move the spare up front or is it really ok to leave it where the factory
put it? Thanks for your thoughts
