<VV> Cross over intake pipe

How necessary and purposeful is the cross over pipe between the left and
 right banks? I have a much modified 140, with a hot cam, 10.5 CR, center
mounted 390 CFM Holly, and headers. I have it apart again, and now is the
time to re-install it. If it's just there to enhance idle , it is useless
due to the race cam. I'll like some thought from the group. thanks,Jeff
