May I suggest that you go back and read the product specs where they say  
for GL-4 use (BP Classic type) or they are for the multipurpose and GL-5 
apps.  The specs don't say for older transmissions but that they meet the 
requirements  for MOST MTs requiring GL-5.
 
In summary, Brad Penn makes a GL-4 gear lube called "Classic"
Their multipurpose Gear Lube is a GL-5 oil and they specify for GL-5  apps

tech  session we had on hand a Brad Penn product, an 80W-90 GL-5 
specifically  recommended by Brad Penn for older transmissions and hypoid
