One option for a spare I've thought about - if you're interested in something "pretty" - is a drag race front wheel with a skinny spare.  Assuming the mounting bead is the same, you could use a lighter temp spare, or for a normal Corvair, something a little more substantial.  The only sticking point is to make sure you also have matching lug nuts, since a lot of the drag wheels use shank style nuts.  There's a Ford pattern that's the same as the early 'Vair, so these wheels turn up fairly regularly, and of course for lates and FCs it's the usual Chevy pattern.
