Smitty Says; Ed in Dade gave the perfect solution to not being stranded, saying to use a trailer. Ok, not as a statement of what is right for everyone, and just my opinion, Even if I could have afforded a trailer and tow vehicle I would have stayed home if that was the only way allowed me to travel. Driving the Corvair is what it is all about. It’s not the destination, it’s the journey. All the crazies that will run you off the road while trying to get a picture. The old boy in a filling station that says, Wut izit, a Rambler? The lady who had one just exactly like it except hers was green and a V-8 with the shifter in the steering hub. The guy with the 5 speed Spyder. Hook a camper painted to match the car on the back and it is even better. Especially if they really do know something about Corvairs. Standing at a urinal in a rest stop and hear a guy say to you, did you see that Corvair pulling a camper in the lot. That crazy SOB ain’t going to get ten miles before it melts. You give all that up with the car in a trailer.
Then of course there was the time when Bill Hubbell was transporting Alice home from a covention in his big trailer. The truck alternator went nuts and fried the battery. Both of them were terminal. He took the battery out of Alice and put it in the truck, Disconnected the regulator and was good to go till he could get to a shop. I guess trailers aren’t all bad.
