No, the "long hollow tube" is clearly marked in the Chevrolet assembly manual - it wasn't a Fisher part.

Under the "sense" category, maybe Fisher was better equipped to produce that long hollow tube that does not seem to be a piece of standard steel tubing -- just sayin' "maybe"
There is a steel reinforcement under the floor, but I think it is the same for the all the transmissions -- I have found it on automatic cars when converting them to manual tansmissions.
