<VV> Fisher 4 speed option code

The most likely reason for Fisher to have an option code for the 4-speed transmission is that they had to do something to accommodate the different gear shift lever. Why do I think that? Because everything else is either the same or was installed by Chevrolet.
So, looking at the '64 Assembly manual, I found these two pages telling Chevy workers how to adjust the gear shift lever- one in the main section 7 (transmission) for the standard 3-speed, and the other in the Options section M20 for the 4-speed. Now, these are just drawings, so no proof here, but the 4-speed page labels a "support" under the floor that is not referenced in the 3-speed section. There is a similar looking unlabeled structure in the 3-speed drawing, however.
Here is my thought. Both shifters (and shift tubes) were installed by Chevy, but the 3 and 4 speeds use different parts. I'm thinking that because the 4 speed shifter has more movements, and because people who would but the 4-speed tend to be a little more aggressive shifters, that Fisher installed a brace or reinforced the floor around the shifter.
Now I need help to prove this. I need somebody with access to a factory 3-speed to look at the underside of the floor around the shifter area and take photos, etc. I need the same done for a factory 4-speed. Note that this ONLY APPLIES TO EARLY MODELS!!
Thanks

I'm starting to think that the reason for this code is some arcane reinforcement plate somewhere in the body and we will probably never figure it out unless we dissect a 3 speed and a 4 speed side by side and look at everything.
