Although the Fitch Phoenix is based on Corvair mechanicals, the bodywork was hand-crafted by Intermeccanica of Turin, Italy.  It was fabricated in steel.


Back in 2012, I wrote an article for the Lehigh Valley Corvair Club newsletter about the business relationship between John Fitch and Frank Reisner, the head of Intermeccanica.  It also has some information about how the bodywork was made.  The newsletter also features a very nice tribute article written by Bob Marlow about John Fitch.
