All: The late Art Silva of New Tripoli NJ is the originator of the BOP alloy V-8 in the back of the Corvair. He departed this life as we know it in July 2012, age 79.
He was on my list of people to talk to about his Corvair history, but I didn't get the job done. I have considered contacting his family and asking about his work and documents related to his alloy V-8 installation, but am not brave enough to do it. I have a copy of the Hot Rod article about his installation, and a couple things he did for the Communique. I talked to a couple people who knew him about doing a interview, but never happened. Sadly. Opportunity missed.
Historically Yours,
James

Allan Bristow has a Rover engine mounted in the rear of his late Corvairconvertible and it is a really neat setup. The car looks totally stockuntil you open the deck lid. I don't know if he built it or bought it thatway but I really liked it. 300 cubic inches, all aluminum engine thatweighs almost the same as a Corvair engine and fits like it was made for it.Now you can have all the power you want (4.9 liters) and have a real hotwater heater if you don't like the smell of a Corvair heater. What's not tolike about it. He drove it from Virginia to Michigan for the Woodward Ave.dream Cruise last year.Clark Hartzel
