Read up on the procedure in the shop manual. I thought it was the Generator
itself that needed polarizing, not the regulator, but it has been many
years. Be sure to disconnect the battery first. Harry is referring to the
rusty-screw problem, at least on late models, where the mounting point
stand-offs for the regulator have the screws rusted behind, so when you go to pull
the screws out, the mounts just turn in place. Frustrating! If your mounts
look "weathered", you might want to "Kroil" them or use another penetrating
fluid on the threads ahead of time. And, maybe, have some vice grips
handy. - Seth
