Just go to Harbor Freight and buy a new buffer.  Carefully open the package
and take the nuts and washers out.  Close the package, seal it back up and
return it to HF.  Tell them your wife just bought you an identical buffer
and you need to return it!  That's probably how yours ended up on the
discount shelf anyway!
