Is there a maximum size that will be converted to URL, or will oversized pix
be "re-sized," and then the smaller resolution linked to the message?

Pix are not (per se) scrubbed, well maybe if they are oversized (too many
pixels). They are converted to a URL which a potential viewer must click
on. The URL is generally found at or near the bottom of the text portion of
the message - usually after a notation saying "next part".
