I don't think we have any defined rules.  After Smitty and Helen got screwed
over for their trip from VA to AK and down to Flagstaff? 

I think the unofficial rule is whatever MapQuest says from your driveway to
the host hotel.  CORSA probably needs to define the rules in a little
booklet like the autocross rules.

It will be tough winning the long distance award. Do side trips count toward
the distance? Daniel has one heck of a side trip (More of a lap around the
U.S.)
    In Direct route mileage, John Nickel, from North Carolina, has Daniel
beat by 41 miles.  Maine and Florida could produce 3300 mile routes.
    We may need more than one category of hard luck awards.
