Frank - I think the big movie for me - particularly as a high schooler who'd started autocrossing - was "Bullit."  I haven't seen the original "Thomas Crown," did see the remake with Pierce Brosnan.
BTW, this month's Car & Driver has a feature on Meyers' latest vehicle: still looks like a Manx but with some upgrades and now powered by a Subaru flat-four with radiator mounted up front.  MK

Mentioning Steve McQueen reminds me of his great acting job in the ORIGINAL 1968 movie "The Thomas Crown Affair".  A couple of scenes show him "vigorously" driving a Meyers Manx dune buggy with a Corvair 140 engine in sandy dunes.  Here's the youtube reference:

McQueen's short life (he died at age 50) ranged from the depths (born to an unwed mother, allegedly a "woman of ill repute", he never knew his father, was beaten by stepfathers, as a teenager lived on the street, was arrested by cops for stealing hub caps) to the heights when 30 years later he was reportedly the highest paid actor in the world.

All - Picked up the Feb 2014 "Classic & Sports Car" Brit magazine at a Barnes &
Noble here in St Louis last night.  It includes a seven page article on the
first-gen Corvair, featuring four vehicles belonging to Mike Malamut in Los
Angeles: '61 700 sedan, '62 Monza wagon, a Greenbrier camper conversion and '64
Spyder convertible.  It's a good article, also includes a sidebar on the second
generation cars.  Look for the ex-Steve McQueen Ferrari 275GTB/4 on the cover.
