Oooops. Boy, am I embarrassed. I know of the stock Corvair organization, but lost the link and forgot that it was still around. I'll have to register again.

So, does the stock site retain this type of information? In particular, I'm thinking of scanned or PDF versions of the information such as engineering drawings. It would be good if we could collect all of that information on the stock site. I certainly would be willing to help expand the data base of Corvair information.

You answered your own question and then you dismissed the answer. 

Yes, indeed, we DO have a CORSA chapter dedicated to documenting and preserving 
information about Stock Corvairs, including original  parts, etc. and yes, 
indeed, the Stock Corvair Group does have a website devoted to serving as a 
repository for such information.  

As for the site not being "universally viewed", well, whose fault is that?

Any club is only as strong as its members, and only as useful as its membership 
wants it to be. 

Instead of asking to reinvent the wheel, why not work with the wheel we already 
have.  If you think the SCG site is not meeting your needs, please contribute 
something to it.

FYI, we are close to releasing an updated site - expect an announcement soon.  
In the meantime, please visit the existing site (http://stock.corvair.org) and 
let us know what else you would like to have there.  We welcome any and all 
contributions to the effort to research, document, and preserve our Stock 
Corvair Heritage.

I don't have a pair of the HD springs, but I did have them on a 1963 Spyder 
convertible that I once owned.  If I remember correctly, they were a heavier 
wire, than the standard springs.  The one thing that I do recall vividly, was 
that the HD suspension package included rear rebound straps that limited the 
amount of travel that the rear lower control arm could drop.  This s clearly 
shown how it was accomplished in the 1962 Factory Assembly manual.  I do have a 
pair of rear lower control arms with the brackets welded to them, and the 
rebound strap steel plates that mounted under the rubber bumper, along with the 
small steel plates that were used to hold the two halves of the rebound strap 
where it went through the lower control arm bracket.  I even have a pair of NOS 
rebound straps.  I have kept all these parts together for many years, and was 
planning on installing them on a 1962 or 1963 Spyder if I ever bought one, but 
so far, I haven't come across a car to my liking.  I don
't want to sell them at this time.  I have been talking with a machine shop 
about reproducing the parts.  Nothing set in stone quite yet.
