I understand your point Frank--the volt is a hybrid, but it's an electric hybrid and that's my point. The gas engine isn't mechanically connected to the drive train like a Prius.

</div>Bob,
If it burns gasoline to make the car go, then it's a HYBRID and not a real ELECTRIC car, like the Tesla.

Frank,
Take a look at the Chevy Volt. You can drive hundreds of miles after the batteries die--the gas engine is a generator.

The biggest problem with electric cars is the TIME it takes to "fill up" the batteries. When I go on a trip in a conventional car, after a couple of hundred miles I can stop and "refuel" the gas tank in 10 minutes. In an all electric car, it takes HOURS to "refuel" the batteries even assuming you can find a place that can do it. So they may have their place driving short distances to and from work every day, especially in heavy traffic and "refueling" OVERNIGHT in your garage, but you'll still need a conventional-engine car to drive on a trip out of state to a car show or a convention or simply to visit relatives..

And you would need a more more door to hold all the batteries. "Tesla...take me
away..."

</div>WOW! Looks like quite an expensive ordeal! Besides the original kit the
batteries add up to around $8,800.00. It also states battery management
controller not included and I do not see one listed. Then you need to
fabricate battery boxes.
Too much money for me!
