> Smitty Says; An elderly clubbie that lives 65 miles away has asked me to get his car running so he can sell it. I want to be a nice guy but the fun is gone after 3 round trips to get it going. <real problems snipped>
Smitty:
I can't help with the core problem, but one thing that occurred to me is
that your friend, if he isn't a member already, should join Triple A and
get their gold plan. The gold plan is $75 annually and gives five free
tows of 100 miles each per year.
If he towed the car to your garage, at least you wouldn't have to sink
2-3 hours of driving into the project every time you had a new idea you
wanted to try out. You could walk out to your own garage, use your own
tools, and poke at it as the spirit moved you.
The guy could join AAA and call in a tow request inside of 5 minutes.
$75 is much cheaper than most companies would charge him for that tow,
plus he'd have the plan available after you got it running, which isn't
such a bad idea when you're driving around in a 55-year old car.
I'm not sure if you want his car in your driveway or even have the
space, but I'm just throwing it out there in case it helps.
