<VV> tappity-tap-tap

Started up my 60 sedan the other day and one tappett doesn't not want to quiet down. Drove it 5 or so miles and while it got quieter it can still be heard. It has done this before but then went away. Engine runs strong and smooth,no miss or hesitation. I will admit I don't drive it enough. Suggestions? Additves that would help?  Ed  Dade City, Fl
