<VV> my last engine noise mystery

The last engine noise mystery I had here was a set of  TRW pistons  
missmarked from the factory. They were marked .040 , but were really .030. The  
noise sounded like lifters..ran the TV camera at the cam and all other areas ,  
took lifters out for a look , then accidentally touched the side of a 
piston  skirt  that was down in the bore a ways. It went "click". Then I started  
running feeler gauges between cylinder wall and piston...
New set of pistons fixed it. You can imagine how much fun that was for me.  
I no longer trust things as marked without checking closer. Never had that 
kind  of fun in the "old days"
So , do not take ANYTHING for granted....
