In the collision shop, we cut out all those little holes so the double
sided tape was just on the emblem with no tape visible (except for side
view).
Single edged razor blades, we bought them by the 100 pack!
I never used double sided (molding/trim) tape to hold the hollow trim
on. There were universal molding clips, you trim them to fit, back then.
Not great, but a little urethane to assist them and the molding stayed on.
Try looking at Auevco parts
http://auveco.com/download/catalog/auveco_catalog.pdf Section 23,
universal type molding fasteners.
19378 is the one that you cut to fit, but sometimes needs help staying
in the molding.

First, on the belt line trim. There isn't much surface to stick tape to - in cross section the back side isn't flat, it has a curved edge that retained the clips. Has anyone actually used double sided tape to hold the trim on? As for the various badges, unlike modern badges that have a solid surface, most Corvair badges are cut out around the letters so there are all these little holes. Since it would expose the sticky surface, I'm thinking it will collect dirt and crud. If you've done this, did you cut the tape out? Any other tips?
