Bob - Running it for a minute or so will not damage anything.

Linda once ran our 67 without a fan belt for 6-7 minutes until she could 
get off the freeway. The car quit on it's own. After putting a belt back 
on an letting it cool down we started it up and drove home.  45,000 
miles later it was still running fine -
