 They're good, they're not THAT good!

Incandescents can turn about 10% of their electrical power into light. Then the lens throws away about 70% from the red filter. 

Red LEDs convert about 30% of their electrical energy into light, and the lens wastes nearly none of it, since the LED only makes red light.

LEDs turn 90% of the current to light,  incandescent bulbs turn 90% of 
the current into heat, you be the judge.   Look at 
www.starlightsinc.com   they have comparison and size charts to show the 
difference.
Ron they have the 1157 LED bulb it is 1-9/16 " long.
