On Craigslist Chicago.  62 Monza 2 dr white, beige interior, some pictures.
No title, I wonder if it has seatbelts.

 

Illinois has this crazy law passed back in 1964.   Any car manufactured
after Jan 1, 1965 MUST have seatbelts.  Any car manufactured after Jan 1,
1961 and sold in Illinois must be retro-fitted with seatbelts after Jan 1,
1965 or it can't be sold in Illinois.  We did not own a Corvair at the time
of the passing of the law, and had to go to Sears and buy the cheapest
seatbelts they had.  I think they cost 39.95 or something like that for our
Chevy II 300.  The Corvair we owned later had been purchased with seatbelts.


 

I suspect there is a way of getting a title issued to this vehicle, there is
a VIN, so if it was ever in the SoS list, they should be able to find the
last actual titled owner.  Apparently the guy that has it now is the owner
of the property and the previous owner left the  Corvair there and no title.
No plates, apparently, either, or the VIN could be found on the card and
would have the owner's name and the last registration, which might lead to
the last known title.
