Hmmm Why is that humor? Oh I get it - the politicians did what they said they would.

What is safe anyway in the perfect utopian automotive world?
Safe is a flawless machine which will never breakdown and allow the driver not to carry any responsibility for his/er actions. The vehicle will do everything for the driver in fact it will be a perfect machine created by a perfect society. Crashes (accidents have been outlawed) will not occur.
Why will it be perfect? Because it will be legislated by dogooding politicians who have promised the clueless public that they will live in a perfect world with no hardships or responsibilities with computers running everything about our lives. We can't make safe judgements and decisions behind there wheel of an automobile anyway, the computer must do that for us.
A car without a computer? Oh Horror!
Go on trip without a GPS? Unthinkable!
