Hi Tom, 

As I read the description of your electrical problem,  the main junction where the two wiring harnesses plug together in the engine compartment comes to mind.  A loose or weak connection there could cause your symptoms.   If you've never dissassembled it and cleaned the connections, there is no time like the present.  Then, if it still pursists, you can at least rule this part out.  Also, there is a good tech tip in the "Tech Guide" about relocating the main feed wire from the harness.  An ounce of prevention...............
