Subject: Re: VV: What is a backlight
Andy and Frank,
I am 73 and car crazy and I have never seen this term used in referring
to a rear window except on VV lately. I have a pretty good collection
of auto books, manuals, magazines and catalogs and I cannot find this
term used anywhere. It may be some slang term used by some people but
it is not proper that I can find. None of my GM parts Catalogs use it.
I am looking at a Fisher Body Service Manual and it calls the rear
window a " BACK WINDOW". If you can tell me where I can see this term
in print I would like to see it.
Thanks
John

Hi John,
I think auto stylists tend to refer to it as a back light.
Barracuda stylist John Samsen is quoted as saying - "I liked reverse-slant ‘C-pillars’ and large backlights, so that is what I presented. "
