I was referring to "doors" metaphorically, that in October 1963, a "new"
(leftover) Corvair (or anything for that matter) would have a high "serial
number" part of the VIN?

I don't know which door they were using.

I imagine that most were actually driven in/out of the showroom.  But, I'd
bet the dealer got a credit from the factory for "leftovers" - just like
they do today.
