<VV> Gas Tank Install question II

Hi - Can someone tell me the correct way to re-install the gas tank on a late model couple. I have new hoses, and the front cross member is still on the car and not coming off. 
I don't see how it would be possible to get access to attach the hoses to the tanks and then tighten the claps if this is done by installing the tank first with the filler tube attached. Is there a trick to this?
