I can't say whether your car was insulted, but years ago mine was! I
blew through a radar trap in my '68 Monza, and when the trooper stopped
me he said, in compete seriousness, "I thought you were trying to run --
but in a Corvair?"

The route we took was via US highways through some very rural parts of western Kansas and Eastern Colorado. This route takes us through many small towns with reduced speed limits. One such town was Granada, CO which has a speed limit of 35 MPH though town. I slowed down but can say for sure that I was actually doing 35 or less as I was soaking in the ambiance of the town (we hadn't seen much of anything for quite some time). And that's what I told the officer when he pulled us over. He said, "the radar show you doing 45 in the 35 zone, but it didn't look like you were going that fast." He only wrote me a warning, so I was initially very grateful. However after thinking about what he said, I felt that he had insulted our little Corvair.
