<VV> Fuel Pumps and Engine Bay Sealing

The late John Moody -- famous for dissecting and analyzing Corvair fuel
pumps -- had a major problem with what he thought was vapor lock on his
last Corvair.  This was long before the addition of ethanol to gasoline.

John tried all sorts of things, including carrying an air pump and fitting
to pressurize his gas tank, to cure the problem.  I know he did a lot of
diagnostic work on the fuel pump itself, including leak checking the
internal valves.

I always suspected it was some other problem such as leaking fuel line or
clogged filter, but he insisted otherwise.  To the best of my knowledge, he
never did solve the problem.  (No, he never did try an electric fuel pump.)
