<VV> Was Fuel Prices Now Fuel Pumps

I still have the stock pump in both Corvairs without a vapor lock problem.  All gas in IL is 10% ethanol for at least a dozen years now (probably more than that).  We grow corn here.
 
Only issue that might come up with the fuel pump (and rubber portions of gas line and rubber portion of accelerator pumps) is disintegration if allowed to go dry.  Modern hose and the "improved" diaphragm in the pump seem to take care of that.  For the accelerator pumps, a double dose of Marvel Mystery Oil in the tank (and drive the car a bit) seems to solve the problem there as well.

It seems that even the Shell and BP 93 octane sold around Kalamazoo had 
some ethanol content.  I have been using the stock fuel pump (since 
1977) in all of our Corvairs and never had much of a problem as long as 
I used non-ethanol premium. This trip we suffered from several cases of 
vapor lock so I guess the handwriting is on the wall and it is time for 
me to convert the fleet to electric pumps.
