Yes, I strongly recommend a head temp gauge instead of a clock. Most of us already have wrist watches or cell phones that tell us the correct time. But IMHO at least one head temp gauge is a vital necessity for an air-cooled engine.

Maybe a head temp gauge would be a better choice? Your cell phone tells you
what time it is and even adjusts for location (time zone) and "savings" time or
not.

I just bought a gauge package with the typical three gauges (oil press,
voltmeter, and water temp). Buying it this way was much cheaper than buying
2 gauges and the housing(s) separately. Since I don't need water temp, I
was looking to re-fill that 2-1/16" spot with an analog clock with a second
hand. Searching the web turned up only a handful that met the requirements
with the least expensive one being over $40. Has anyone found a less
expensive clock?
Thanks,
