Had that happen to a catalytic converter (long story).  Got the plastic hot and peeled most of it off with plyers.  The residue burned off over several months.

I inadvertently left a bottle of Windex in the engine compartment and it leaned against an exhaust header.  It was noticed after a 20 minute drive.  I now have a patch of melted plastic that I'd like to remove without damaging the header which is Jet-Hot coated.  
 
Any and all suggestions about how to fix my mistake will be appreciated.
