IF they are rebuildable, ie, good candidates for rebuilding, I rebuild 
them -- if they are broken and replaceable, replacement seems like a 
good option, like with broken calipers with broken e brake mechanisms 
inside them.

I've had a small flexible ball hone that fits nicely for many years 
(they come in numerous sizes, I have them in about 1/2 inch to six 
inches) -- I prefer a lubricant for honing, not brake fluid -- wash & 
dry after honing.
