OK Frank, I'll say it. Do it right! Since you have to take the transaxle
apart anyway think about getting one of those snouts from Clark's that you
can put 2 of the seals in. Then you are golden!

Everyone afraid to answer with bad news?

Two options:

1. Do it right, remove transaxle, change snout.

2. Ignore it, and see if it breaks, then you will have to drop everything
back out and do it anyway.

I have put them back in with small chunks missing and the car drove away.
That was back when we were just keeping daily drivers on the road as cheap
as possible. I have also welded them. Now you know that throwout bearing was
not sliding as smooth as it should!

Thanks to all for advice on the engine only installation.  Bad news--closer
inspection as I was putting on throw out bearing showed a crack in the
snout.  It looks like a piece could fall out if I touched it,  Crack extends
7/16 of an inch from end of snout.  Any fixes?  JB weld? Or am I faced with
dropping the trans axle and having a new snout installed?  I'm afraid o f
the answers!
