Subject: <VV> Turn signal lamp socket
Earlier today I noticed an exchange from someone looking for a lamp
socket for a FC (if I recall correctly), and a response that it was the
same as the EMs used for the front turn signals. As it happens, my left
front parking lamp wasn't working, and it turned out to be that the
original 50-year-old socket was coming apart. I discovered that AutoZone
(and probably every other FLAPS) has essentially an exact replacement
socket in their bubble-pack display - identified as Dorman 85818. It's
white plastic instead of black, and the wire colors are not the same as
the Corvair's; Dorman black matches the Corvair white wire, and Dorman
white matches the Corvair blue wire. Otherwise it's a plugin
replacement. Price was $3.98, pretty good deal.
My apologies if this is already common knowledge.
Cheers,
Chuck McKinley
