<VV> A case of the vapors!

The Californian in me says - There is no such thing as "Global warming" -
There is, however, a thing called "Climate Change" and the eventual effects
are the same, depending on where you are - and how many feet above sea
level your home is! <grin> - Seth

I have experienced heat soak vapor lock in several cars. Not in a Corvair,
because, for racing, I have equipped my cars with electric pumps. In the 40
or so street Corvairs I have owned, I have replaced a gas-donating stock
pump a couple of times, along with the oil and filter. I have replaced a
mal-functioning electric pump as well, once. At no time have I had a properly
located and wired electric pump fall prey to vapor lock. I find it hard to
figure out how it could happen. Locating the pump in the tank, a la Lew
Rishel's application (really GM's design), would - except for the
installation effort - seem like the best solution - which is why GM and most other OE
manufacturers went to that design years ago. This does require looking at
the fuel system as a "system", and not band-aiding a single problem. While
you are sitting by the side of the road, halfway up a hill, it is hard to
visualize a "system". Better to plan ahead.

Don't you know that poking fun at global warming is taboo? You may be
severely chastised or some knight might say Ni in your general direction.
