<VV> late model shock absorber interchange

Lanny - This used to be a common question, because it was hard to find good
Corvair shocks as the original suppliers eventually dropped the Corvair
out of their replacement books. In addition, other cars/trucks from that era
used shocks that were similar in one length or another (compressed or
collapsed), or mounted similarly, pin-type upper, tube type lower - usually the
wrong tube size. Strangely, though some of those replacements - I am sure
you will get a few suggestions - are also cars that have hit the endangered
species list. So those may not be any more available than the original
Delcos. Of course some folks were looking for the interchange so they could
pick out the cheapest shock they could find to replace a really DEAD one on
the car. If that is what you need, perhaps there is an interchange by
mounting type on the WEB somewhere. I noticed that the Corsa Tech guide shows a
Ford Truck rear shock for the late model. Try a 78 F100 without HD
suspension. It is close to a bolt on.
Shocks from the Corvair suppliers are the correct fit, and are tuned to fit
the Corvair application. - Seth Emerson
